The Running Dream -- Wendelin Van Draanen
Jessica is a runner. It's who she is, or who she was until an accident causes her to lose a leg below the knee.
Eventually, she must go back to school where she deals with normal teenage angst...boys, mean girls, and tough teachers. She also meets Rosa, a classmate who has cerebral palsy. Together they help others realize that they should be seen for themselves, not just their disability.
